Joseph John Campbell (March 26, 1904 – October 30, 1987) was an American mythology professor, writer, and lecturer best known for his work in the fields of comparative mythology and comparative religion. His work is vast and covers many aspects of the human experience, and his philosophy is often identified with the phrase he coined: "Follow Your Bliss". (Wikipedia)
Richard Roberts is a writer, a poet, a Jungian scholar, and a long-time practitioner of Tarot. In his college days, Roberts had vowed never to write a novel until he had an idea no writer before him ever had. In a vision, he conceived of a book in which his characters would "go into" other literary classics and interact with the characters, all the while writing in the style of the original authors of those classics. Roberts regards the resulting book, The Wind & The Wizard, as his life’s masterwork. (See Impermanent Press for more information and books by Richard Roberts)
Joseph Campbell and Richard Roberts were good friends and co-authors of a book "Tarot Revelations". They conducted many seminars together in the 1960s and 70s on the West Coast ranging on a wide range of topics, covering mythology, tarot, paranormal phenomena. Some of these conversations were recorded and were a part of Richard Roberts private collection. Richard is working with RCG to restore and publish the work they did together with Campbell.
In 1973-74, Joseph Campbell and Richard Roberts have conducted a series of seminars on the Third Model of the Universe – their joint work that was practically lost to the world, and the tapes were never released to the public. This project is aimed at restoring and bringing to life the important piece of Joseph Campbell’s great body of work.
Given the age of the tapes and the amount of material, we’ll have to hire an audio lab and otherwise work hard to digitize the audio from the reels, digitally remaster the recordings to improve the sound quality, and organize the recordings into series of presentations suitable for publishing on the web. At the very minimum, we need $2000 to cover digitizing and remastering services, even before the editing begins.
