Paul Rebillot

We are continuing our conversations with our dear teacher and friend Paul Rebillot on the topic of the Healing Theater - the combination of acting and drama, mythology, gestalt therapy, and rituals. For more information about Paul and his work, please visit his website - Direct Impact Creativity.

In this segment, Paul describes the cornerstone of his work - the Hero’s Journey.

  • The story of CĂș Chulainn - the Hound of Culain
  • The rite of passage
    • The “mini-schizophrenic episode”
  • The call to adventure
    • First level of resistance: The world, people around you
    • Help from a peer, a friend
    • Moving into the non-linear, circular path
    • The daemon of resistance
    • Magical help, magical object
    • Hero and Hera
  • The Threshold - the Demon of Resistance
    • The personal, inner level of resistance
  • The Land of Miracles
    • More tests on the way
    • The Supreme Ordeal
    • Place of the reward
  • Return to the real world
    • Hero cannot stay in the land of miracles - has to come back
    • Cannot take your gift back; you can only take the awareness or knowledge of the gift.
    • Leave the magical powers behind, and takes the knowledge.
  • Alignment of the three centers
    • Body (movement), Heart (feelings), Head (symbol, word)
  • Interpretation of Myth
    • Myth as a symbol for the mind; the mind finds the meaning in symbol that resonates with the heart and the body
  • On Oriental traditions
    • Becoming conscious of one’s gift - often comes from the spirit guide
    • On spirituality
  • Origins of the Hero’s Journey process
    • A “mini-schizophrenic episode” for doctors and nurses in a mental hospital
  • Separation from the archetype - returning home

  1. Shadoan Says:

This Series with Paul Rebillot is really fascinating. I think the black cat with a butterfly means that the cat felt the presence of someone, and wanted to be near the Guru.
Something clicked for me, when I realized I have had an adventure in the past 7 or 10 years.. In fact, life is much more adventurous, and its Heraic Journeys more numerous, in fact, each moment is a creation and destruction of immediate universes… Each nanofiber in a cells’ structure hold IMHO universei, and so, we scale our perception on our quest gradually to perceive these worlds.

  2. M Says:

Yes , Paul is an amazing man, who fascinates us all with his expertise, great stories and general warmth. he is a fabulous teacher and mentor, and if you have an opportunity to convince him to work with you/train with him, jump on it!! It will have ripples across your life as all three of us at RCG can attest to overwhelmingly
